What the hell were they thinking when booking the card this week? That’s the only thought that was running through Kaylyn’s mind as she seen herself going up against her client Chase Soverign. This was not something she seen coming at all, and it was not something she wanted to get into. Hell, she had enough to worry about after coming face to face with Deruty on Warzone. Never did she have a problem with Deruty, but if he didn’t take no for an answer regarding his request for her to join ranks with him … then there was always a first for something.

If there was one thing that happened often throughout her career here, and elsewhere, it was the fact that Kaylyn didn’t stay with one person for long. No, that didn’t mean relationship… it meant working with someone as a team. She needed excitement in her life, and that was what she got from Chase. Seeing how he lives, it was quite a show all the time…. even if the show was one she didn’t want to watch.

“You mind hurrying up and getting her out of here? I would like to talk about what were going to do this week.”Kaylyn was heard yelling towards the back of her place, her only reply was loud female moans and nothing from Chase. Of course. “Chase! I am getting a shower, by the time I am done you had better be ready and she had better be gone.” The sound of something getting pushed aside, along with murmers followed and Kay just shook her head before walking off and enclosing herself in the bathroom. Of course since Chase had been around, locking the door had become a necessity. She could no longer recall how many times she had walked into the bathroom only to have him “accidently” walk in on her. Not a fun time… not at all. More so when trying to get him to leave and all he would do was stare and try to come closer.

It was not long before she heard him banging on the door to the bathroom. “Let me in! I’m done!” Was he really asking something so insane? “Chase… I will be out soon. Just… be ready to discuss this week.” Never something any man wants to hear. Time to talk. Ha. He would have to get over it.

After drying off, and pulling a jersey over my head I went to leave the restroom. Not realizing that my shorts were not showing was not a good thing. Giving Chase any signs of possibilities was never a good thing. More so when I was going to have to step into the ring with him soon.

“Chase!” I snapped my fingers bringing his attention off my long toned legs long enough to get him to look at my face before his eyes started to wander once more. “Damn it. This is not a time for games. We have business to discuss.”

“We have plenty of time to talk. Actually! Even better. I will talk. You will listen while your lips are..”

“Chase. Don’t even think it! Damn it. I have too much to worry about as it is when it comes to you, now I have to step into the ring with you knowing that no matter what its going to be a win-win situation for you. Either you win the match, and therefore are on top of me… or… if I win the match…”

“Oh yeah. All my dreams will come true with you on top of me. Finally! In front of everyone you will show that you do want me. I love it. This match is genious.”

“No… its not Chase. Not only do I have to worry about you behaving yourself in the ring, but I also have The Syndicate to watch now that they have decided they want me to join them. What are they thinking? You know what. Forget it. I can’t deal with that right now. All I need to talk to you about is making sure you do what you have to in the ring to focus. Think of this as any other match. We both want the win, but I don’t want any problems afterwards either.” Kay stood there for a minute, closing her eyes thinking things over. The only thing brewing was a headache. Opening her eyes she gave up. “You know what. Call whoever you have to. I’m calling it a night. I need to think some things through a bit.”

Without another word she walked out of the room leaving Chase there alone. Not like it bothered him too much. He seemed to be looking at some pills in his hand wondering which one he should take. If only she paid attention long enough to stop him before he took them all. Damn, Chase was more than a handful, that much was fact.

After laying down for quite some time, I found I was unable to sleep. Why? I couldn’t figure that much out. Looking at the hour I sighed before picking up the phone and holding it for a long moment. Did I want to call her? After a back and forth debate in my head I dialed anyway. Seconds passed before a voice answered on the other end. “Hi…” I was feeling a bit odd calling her after so long. We had been friends, and enemies in the ring, and out… but right now, I needed to clear my head, and who better to do it with. “Think you can meet me for a bite to eat? I need your perspective on a few things.” A sigh of relief came as the answer I was hoping for was said. “Coffee shop at 6th and race, in forty five sound good?”

Everything was going great. Now to just get ready and head out to meet an old…. frienemy? Not caring too much about appearance I tossed on a pair of baggy gray sweat pants, and pulled a black tee shirt over my head before pulling my hair back and tying it at the nape of my neck. Pulling on my sneakers I left my room closing the door behind me only to shake my head hearing the moans coming from down the hall. Did he ever sleep? Minus when he was in a drug induced coma that is. Picking up my pace I left the house to go and see what answers I could come up with… to the problems I have yet been able to define.

“Matthews” I stated heading towards the table where Aurora Matthews was waiting for me.

“Evans”

Ah, the good old days. Just from hearing that one word from her brings back all the memories once again. Being in the ring, tearing one another apart. Fighting for the title. Destroying one another lives in the process. I couldn’t hide the smirk upon my face.

“So whats bothering you?”

That was one way for the smirk to vanish. Pulling out a chair I sat down across from her before shrugging. “If I knew the answer to that… I think I would be sleeping right now.”

“Start from the beginning. You’re in a new company now right?”

“Not new per-say, after all I have been here for a while now, but yes. I took some time off to work on getting a client out of jail, and just returned to the ring last week.”

 “Client?”

“Yeah, I decided to manage as well as fight my own battles in the ring.”

“And how is that going for you?”

“He’s doing great. It’s his life style I am having a hard time getting used to being around.” I paused for a second before looking up finally. “Sex and drugs.” Those two little words gave her plenty of understanding on the matter.

“It reminds you of your carefree days. The times you chose to put behind you and move onto better things in life.”

“Basically. I mean… I have no interest in going and calling my old buddy to come spend the night, or doing any drugs either, but… just seeing how he is… makes me wonder if I was really that bad.”

“You were never as bad as Chase.”

“So you know who I am talking about then?”

“I still keep tabs here and there. I doubt I will ever come out of retirement, but just in case…”

“I get what you mean. Gotta know what you’re competition is up to.”

“Something like that. Look Evans, its like this. You were never the type to want to make friends. It was always about business and doing what you had to do to get by. You didn’t care who you had to toss to the wolves in the process.” I couldn’t argue with her there. “This thing with Chase… it’s all business. You’re managing him. His lifestyle wont affect your own. As for what others have been saying about you… fuck it. They can say everything and anything but it doesn’t mean any of it is true. Just like Alexa always did… they want to get under your skin. You had plenty of practice blocking that shit out and just doing what needed to be done in order to survive. I am sure you still have it in you.”

“I know I do.. but sometimes I really just want to wring their necks. They see a female and automatically its slut, whore and anything else they can think of. You would think they would have some respect but god forbid that happened.” I was silent for a moment… thinking of what I wanted to say next. “There’s something else. I have to go against Chase this week… that’s not what’s bothering me though. The Syndicate…. they offered me a spot within their ranks. I said I would think it over but I already know I don’t want to go down that road. I can’t go down that road after what they did to Corey.”

“I thought you and Corey were ancient history?”

“We are. Still though… It’s one thing if I go after him or send someone else after him, its another completely if those that want me to join them have already targeted him.”

“Sounds like you still have some things to work out when it comes to him.”

“It’s easier to just let things stay as they are, and avoid one another as much as possible.”

“Is that what you want?”

“Damn, look at the time. I really should be getting back to the house. Don’t need Chase trying to sneak into my room again. Thanks for the talk Matthews.” I stated as I stood up from my seat and headed out of the coffee shop.

“Evans, Evans, Evans. She will never learn.”

Hours later I still hadn’t gotten any sleep. All I could think about was the way the conversation went with Aurora. She always did know which topics to bring up. And I always did know how to run from them. Corey Black and The Syndicate would have to wait. For now I had Chase to deal with. The same man who has been dying to have sex with me since god only knows how long. Wait… Could I be that cruel? A smirk came across my face and seemed to stay there. Slipping out of bed I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen before writing something down. Leaving the bedroom I went down the hall and put the piece of paper on the floor in front of the room Chase was sleeping in.

~Let me win the match, and I will sleep with you.~

Standing there for a few moments I tilted my head wondering if I really wanted to do this. The more I thought about it… the bigger my smirk grew. This would be the perfect opportunity. Sliding the paper under the door I turned and headed back to my room. Anyone can read between the lines there… but Chase was not anyone. Chase wouldn’t think about the real meaning behind that. He would go straight to sex. Good thing my mind works. Now…. to sleep.
